Concrete Slab Settlement in Island Park
Challenge
The homeowner of a single family home built in the 1950’s contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems of New York when she noticed sunken slabs in her garage at her Island Park, NY home. The concrete slab of the 1,358 square foot home experienced 2-3 inches of settling due to Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The sunken and settling slabs began to alarm the homeowner for the value and safety of her home.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems remedied the homeowner’s problem with the use of the PolyLEVEL (TM) Polyurethane Injection System. To begin the repair, Head PolyLEVEL (TM) Technician, Joe Nero, drilled a penny size hole into the settling and sunken parts of the concrete slab. He then used specialized equipment to inject the polyurethane under the concrete and raise it back to its original position. With the use of the PolyLEVELTM system, exclusively available to Foundation Supportworks dealers, Quality 1st Basement Systems was able to lift and stabilize the settling concrete slab(s). The PolyLEVEL (TM) system was installed in less than one hour, with no mess left behind. The joints were sealed and the family was able to park their vehicles in the garage immediately after the installation. This fast and easy installation process gave the homeowner peace of mind and confidence toward the value of her home.
